Garage finishing,usable in February.
Insulation, drywall, taping, texture and paint, turning an attached cold room into part of the house.

Garage finishing at OnCall includes insulation, drywall, texture and paint. It is one of the highest value upgrades per square foot in an Indiana house, because the structure and the roof already exist and only the interior is missing.
Why the garage is the cheapest room you can add
The foundation is poured, the walls are framed, the roof is on and the door is hung. Everything expensive about building a room is already done. What is missing is insulation, a finished surface and light, and that is a fraction of the cost of an addition for a comparable amount of floor.
The change is not subtle. An uninsulated attached garage in central Indiana sits within a few degrees of outside for most of the winter. Insulated and finished, it holds heat, it takes a heater efficiently if you want one, and the wall it shares with the house stops bleeding warmth in January.

What the work includes
- Insulation to the walls and, where it makes sense, the ceiling
- Drywall, taped and finished
- Texture matched to whatever look you want, or left smooth
- Paint, usually in a harder-wearing finish than a bedroom would get
- Outlets and lighting through a licensed electrical partner where new circuits are involved
The garage ceiling deserves a decision rather than a default. Insulating it matters if there is living space above. If the garage is detached or has attic above it, the money is often better spent on the walls and the door seal.
Storage, while the walls are open
The best moment to plan shelving, overhead racks and a workbench wall is before the drywall goes on, because blocking can be added exactly where the load will be. Garage storage builds are handyman work and can be quoted at the same time.
How it is quoted
On site. Wall area, ceiling decision, existing wiring and whether the door and its seals are worth addressing all change the number. Cory measures and sends a written itemized bid. Work that needs a permit is performed by licensed electrical, plumbing and HVAC trade partners. OnCall coordinates it as the general contractor so you are dealing with one company rather than three.

Questions we get asked
Do I need to heat it for insulation to be worth it?
No. Insulation alone narrows the swing and makes the shared wall with the house perform better. A heater becomes far more effective afterwards if you want one later.
Can you insulate the garage door?
Door treatment is part of the walkthrough conversation, because an insulated wall with an uninsulated door is a half-finished job.
What finish do you use on garage walls?
Something harder wearing than an interior wall would get, because garages take knocks.
Can the ceiling be left open?
Yes, and sometimes that is the right call. It gets decided on site rather than by default.
