Most outdoor living projects are really two or three of those at once. A patio wants a sitting wall to give it an edge, the sitting wall wants a fire pit to face, and the pergola is what makes the whole thing usable in August. Quoting them together is cheaper than quoting them in three separate years, because the excavation and the concrete work happen once.

Why does Indiana weather matter so much here?

Freeze and thaw is the thing that decides whether outdoor concrete looks good in year five. Water gets into the surface, freezes, expands and lifts the top layer away, and the result is the spalled, pockmarked patio you see on houses all over central Indiana. The defenses are a properly prepared base, correct thickness, and sealing.

Sealing existing concrete is its own service for that reason. A patio that is still sound but starting to look tired is usually a cleaning and sealing job rather than a replacement, and it is worth knowing that before anybody quotes you a tear out.

Stamped and stained finishes

Stamped concrete takes the pattern while the slab is still workable, which makes it a one chance operation and a reason to care who is holding the tools. Staining is applied to cured concrete and can be done to an existing slab as well as a new one. Both are more forgiving of Indiana winters than a paver field with joints, and both need sealing on a cycle to hold their color.

How outdoor projects get quoted

On site, always. Grade, drainage, access for equipment and where the downspouts discharge all change the number, and none of them are visible in a photograph. Cory measures, works out the base and thickness the site actually needs, and sends a written itemized bid.

Work that needs a permit is performed by licensed electrical, plumbing and HVAC trade partners. OnCall coordinates it as the general contractor so you are dealing with one company rather than three.
