Where the boundary sits, plainly

A full kitchen carries cabinetry lead times and appliance coordination that belong to a specialist, and taking one on would mean doing it worse than the people who do nothing else.

The cuts are the craft

Outlets, switches, the range hood, the window return and the end of a run are where a backsplash is judged. A herringbone pattern doubles the number of cuts and the layout has to be set out before the first tile goes on.

Grout, edges and the end of the run

Grout color changes the whole result more than the tile does. The same white subway tile with bright white grout and with a mid grey grout are two completely different backsplashes, and that choice gets made deliberately rather than defaulted.

Where a run ends against a wall or a window return, it gets a considered edge rather than a cut tile and a bead of caulk. That detail is where a backsplash either looks installed or looks finished.

Follow up runs on a schedule so nothing sits: twenty-four hours, seventy-two hours, then one week. A signature and a deposit put the work on the calendar. If something is found once a wall or the ground is open, it is priced and agreed before it is built rather than appearing at the end.
