Can you stamp an existing slab?

No, the stamp goes in while it is wet. An existing slab can be cleaned, stained and sealed instead.

Is stamped concrete slippery?

Finish and sealer both affect it. Raise it if the patio is near water or on a slope.

Stamped and stained concrete

Color and sealing

Integral color, release and stain all behave differently over time, and all of them depend on sealing on a cycle to hold. A stamped patio that has never been resealed will look tired in year four and it is not the concrete's fault.

Control joints are a design decision

Concrete cracks. The only question is whether it cracks where somebody decided it would. Control joints are cut on a spacing that suits the slab, and on a stamped patio their placement is a visual decision as well as a structural one because you will be looking at them for twenty years.

Reinforcement, thickness and base preparation are specified to the site rather than to a default, and they are the three things a cheap concrete quote reduces first.

How stamped concrete gets quoted

Stamped Concrete is measured on site. Grade, access, existing conditions and the things behind the walls all change the number, and none of them are visible in a photograph. Cory walks the space, works through the design decisions with you, takes the dimensions and sends a detailed written bid rather than a range.

Follow up runs on a schedule so nothing sits: twenty-four hours, seventy-two hours, then one week. A signature and a deposit put the work on the calendar. If something is found once a wall or the ground is open, it is priced and agreed before it is built rather than appearing at the end.
